Just ten minutes from Glasgow an ultimate golfing
challenge awaits you. Esporta Dougalston Golf Club, Strathblane Road,
Milngavie has a country club setting which is set within the heart of
300 acres of beautiful woodland. The course which is of championship standard
was designed in 1975 by commander Harris. He made excellent use of the
natural woodland to create mature tree lined fairways. He also incorporated
the estate's water features which gave several holes considerable beauty.
 The
course itself has been going through a process of change where four new holes
have been built, due to open in May 2001 with a whole new course design for all
to play. Clearing of shrubbery to widen certain holes, which in turn will make
it more attractive to the average golfer. The existing holes have been upgraded
along with vast sums of money being spent on the drainage to improve the over
all condition of the course which will be a continuous project, to help cope with
the worst of the weather.
Dougalston Golf Course has been famous in the past for being a long course with
long walks between green and tee's. The new layout at Esporta Dougalston has become
more compact, with less walking and hopefully more enjoyable to play. Esporta
Dougalston is a totally new club experience with a unique atmosphere, developed
for people of all ages, a club which offers the opportunity to enjoy the best
in sports and relaxation. A superb range of facilities includes 18 hole golf course,
indoor an outdoor tennis courts, spacious gym and fitness areas, aerobics classes,
swimming pool, health and beauty salon not forgetting restaurant and sports bar.
