Palacerigg Country Park, Cumbernauld, Glasgow, G67 3HU
Palacerigg is a municipal course designed in the 1970's by the eminent English golfer Henry Cotton (3 times winner of The Open). Palacerigg Golf Club, a private club operating within the course, was formed in 1975. The course is open to the public at all times except when a club competition is being played. Palacerigg is located 10 miles north east of Glasgow on the outskirts of Cumbernauld and is located within Palacerigg Country Park. As well as the golf course the public park offers such attractions as Scottish and European wildlife, craft centre nature trails, millennium longhouses, visitors centre, children's play area etc. Our signature hole would be the 7th, named "Lang Whang". A par 5 of 540 yards. The tee shot must be perfection as a burn comes into play just about the landing area of the average drive. Also, miss the fairway and you could end up in the duck pond on the left or a copse of trees on the right. After this the course settles down into some straightforward holes until you hit the 16th where many a score has been ruined at this benign looking par 3 - a monster with the wind in your face. It is 220 yards but plays a lot longer most days. Finish off with another par 5 and two of the 6 bunkers on this hole are called" Fran and Anna". get into one of these and you can say goodbye to breaking that handicap. Graham Rankin holds the course record of 66 - we think it will be a long time before that is broken. Facilities Directions Advance Bookings |
