Isle of Wedmore Golf Club

One of Somerset's friendliest clubs, a warm welcome is always extended to our members and visitors including societies and corporate visitors. The Isle of Wedmore Golf Club was founded in 1992 and is located just 15 minutes from Junction 22 of the M5.

Many people ask why the club is known as the 'Isle of Wedmore' Golf Club. The answer dates back to Saxon times when Wedmore was completely surrounded by we marshland and the Somerset Levels were flooded. The Club emblem commemorates the historic peace treaty made in Wedmore between King Alfred and the Danes in 878AD. This marked a turning point in the fortunes of the Kingdom of Wessex and the emergence of the English nation as a whole.

Our location benefits from breathtaking panoramic views of the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Valley, Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset Levels. Our parkland course has been carefully designed to maintain and enhance the natural environment offering 18 holes (par 70) of over 6000 yards in 2 nine hole loops. Both these loops start and finish at our excellent and newly extended Clubhouse which offers a wide range of delicious snacks, meals and beverages. It provides a challenge for the experienced golfer but at the same time is gentle enough for the less skillful player.

If you are looking for a Society or Corporate day we are able to tailor make a package to suit your requirements, whether large or small our flexiblity and value for money is bound to be of interest to you.

Our resident PGA Professional, Nick Pope, has a widely stocked pro shop for men, ladies and juniors in mind and is also able to offer lessons for individuals and groups plus an indoor studio for teaching and custom club fitting centre.
