The original Spital Course was laid out by the great Harry Vardon and James Caird in 1907. Vardon Wrote to the club at the time " I was very much struck with the beautiful nature of the turf and it can be made into as fine an inland course as you can find. I am sure from the subsoil that it will be dry. As for scenery it can hardly be surpassed."

The present course, one of the finest in the North East, is set in very pretty undulating parkland. The Georgian clubhouse accommodates a range of facilities including a bar, restaurant, snooker room and lounges. Visiting societies and parties have, if they wish, the use of a dedicated lounge. A wide range of bar snacks is available throughout the day in addition to lunches and dinners.

We have long experience of entertaining visitors societies and organization's wishing to offer corporate hospitality. You can be sure of a welcome at our highly popular club. Our PGA professional Ben West has a fully stocked shop and can provide tuition to non-members. He can also offer a range of sporting activities to groups or clubs.
