The course at Maryport Golf Club is a mixture of links and parkland. The first three holes are links type, with the sea shore on the left side and areas of gorse on the right.

The first hole requires a fair carry over a stream from the tee. We cross the road to play holes four and five, which are also links type holes. Holes 6 to 14 are parkland in nature, gently undulating, and quite open. The stream influences holes six and seven, and there is out of bounds on the right of those holes. Holes fourteen and fifteen are tough if the prevailing wind blows. Holes fifteen to eighteen are back to the links variety and quite flat.

The final three comprise a long par three and two short par fours, but the latter are not easy with the stream as a hazard again. A good, fair test of golf with wonderful views of the Solway Firth and the Galloway Hills.
