One of the best young courses in England, the Hunting course at Slaley Hall De Vere golf resort boasts a great layout located in a county lacking in volume of top-notch golf courses.

Opened for play in 1989, the course itself was designed by Dave Thomas and is a huge course through a dense pine forest.

A main feature are the rhododendrons and cherry trees which bring with them some seasonal colour into the spring and the pine trees provide the sting in the tale as they punish the wayward shot and are predominant throughout the layout. Thomas is renowned for providing unique holes with a lot of character and the Hunting course proves no exception. With masterful bunkering and skilfully used natural features such as the streams on the front nine, this is an exceptionally designed course.

The course was immortalised by the British Grand Prix, formerly the Slaley Hall Northumberland Challenge, which has seen some famous champions including Colin Montgomerie.

The hotel is elegantly furnished and its traditional majesty has been maintained.
