Andover Golf Club

The nine-hole course was established in 1907 in Winchester Road, just half a mile south of Andover town centre.

The gently sloping parkland course commands spectacular views across the rolling Hampshire countryside, which provides a perfect setting for a round of golf. Accurate driving is rewarded, particularly on such holes as the 18th where a wayward drive to the right will take you out of bounds.

The only par-5 arrives at the 10th where good course management should at least present even a beginner with a chance of par.

However, despite these tests, the course’s signature hole is the par-3 ninth. The ninth tee is 100 feet above the green and any shot that reaches the green is definitely one to be savoured.

The chalk base makes the course free-draining and in turn means the course is rarely closed, even in the most adverse of weather conditions, although the greenkeeping staff also do a fantastic job of maintaining the course. The bar and restaurant are excellent and food is always available throughout the year.
