Like many courses which have been crafted over a spell of many years, Knowle benefits from two distinct halves created at different times. But unlike its rivals, this course offers players the opportunity to start on either the 1st or 10th, adding a different dimension to play.

Characterised as a traditional and well-established parkland course, it also enjoys a highly envied reputation for its fine greens and friendly clubhouse atmosphere.

Arguably the signature hole is the par-3 sixth, with a well-bunkered green it poses a real challenge if you want to make par, especially when you have to negotiate a 70 foot drop to the putting surface, making club selection all the more difficult.

At just over 6000 yards itís by no means the longest course in the Gloucester area, but as it plays over undulating countryside youíll be glad at that fact.

Despite being situated only three miles outside of Bristol city centre, the course is surprisingly tranquil and soon the bright lights and bustle of everyday life will be a distant memory.
