Marriott St Pierre Golf Club

One of the most popular clubs in the whole of Wales, the Marriott St Pierre boasts two 18-hole golf courses, including the old course which has hosted the Dunlop Master, the Curtis Cup and the Solheim Cup in 1996 where the Europeans were thumped by their American counterparts.

St Pierre, a faithful Lieutenant to William the Conqueror, was rewarded with 400 acres of picturesque Wye Valley land and the house and an adjacent church from that land formed the basis of the now Marriott hotel and around that the two courses were created.

The old course was designed by Ken Cotton in 1961 from a deer park thronged with highly prized trees, the most brazen of which is the giant chestnut that rules the second fairway.

The facilities there include a 13-bay floodlit driving range, large indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, steam room and a fully equipped gym and health and beauty suite.

There are also stylish bedrooms in the stunning hotel and two excellent restaurants meeting the needs of every visiting golfer.
