Market Drayton Golf Club

The phrase ‘hidden gem’ is an apt description of this course. Tucked away in the countryside of North Shropshire, where it has been for over 100 years, it provides a testing yet enjoyable round for even the most proficient player.

This is, more than anything, the thinking golfer’s venue. Its tight-fairways, lined by out-of-bounds, attest to that. Don’t come to Market Drayton and expect to overpower the course, those who do will, quite probably, find themselves tallying up a high score as they walk off the 18th.

Visitors should look out for the 14th, a 326-yard par-4, aptly-named “Bungalow”. Here they will see the house, which is available for rent to those who’ve come from afar and wish to stay-on-site. It sleeps six and can be booked in advance by contacting the club.

For those only here for the day there’s a different kind of ‘home-from-home’, in the form of the clubhouse. With a patio overlooking the first fairway, here you can dine in style while enjoying all the great outdoors has to offer.
