Designed by Dr Alistair MacKenzie in 1912, the course at Reddish Vale Golf Club is one of the most scenic in the area. Amazingly just five minutes from Manchester, the picturesque parkland layout rises and falls over the natural undulations of the rolling Cheshire landscape. The River Tame doubles as a feature to admire and an obstacle to be negotiated as it comes into play on seven of the holes. Perhaps the highlight of a round at Reddish Vale is the 322-yard, par-4 16th hole. Named ‘cottons’ after the legendary golfer Henry Cotton who professed his appreciation of the hole, it requires an intimidating tee shot to a fairway that gradually doglegs right as it follows the banks of the river, which presents a hazard from tee to green.

Buggies and other hire items are available from the club professional shop, which also houses the latest golf equipment and apparel and is run by the club PGA professional, who is at hand to offer expert advice and tuition.

Visitors are assured of a warm welcome at Reddish Vale, where they are also invited to indulge in the excellent catering facilities.
