Mapperley Golf Club

With undulating, parkland terrain set across rolling countryside, the course at Mapperly provides a challenging but rewarding round that’s certainly not one for the fainthearted.

Opened after much debate between the Golf Club Committee and Gedling Brorough Council in 1983, the course has since experienced a high level of investment and has continually improved, reaching the standards for which it is recognised today.

Accuracy is the key to scoring well here, with tight fairways and mature woodland, any stray shots have a good chance of being punished.

While that will ring true throughout the round, it is not to the exclusion of the odd hole where loading up the big guns and letting rip is more than appropriate. Take, for example, the 600 yards, par-5, 12th. Only three well struck shots here will suffice to leave the average golfer any chance of making par.

After four or five hours of bliss, depending on how long you want to savour the experience, rewind in the comfort of the clubhouse which offers a restaurant, two bars and a wide range of golfer’s fare.
