The original course was designed by Dr Alistair Mackenzie and Bobby Jones of Augusta National Fame.

the 1980s it was a PGA Tour course and hosted an annual event, the Lawrence Batley International, being played by the likes of Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Brian Barnes. Winners here include Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle.

Curse takes you from Parkland to moorland to woodland and back again, with superb views across the Aire Valley; Rombolds moor to the north and the Bronte country to the west.

bunkering is second-to-none, the long undulating variety of holes have heather and pines for company and its unique character makes it a refreshing yet tricky challenge.

modern clubhouse built in 1994 is in keeping with the character of the estate buildings, borrowing from the pillar of the mansion and the arches of the surrounding buildings. The clubhouse was opened by honorary member and former Ryder Cup star, Mark James, and boasts an impressive collection of memorabilia courtesy of local member and world-renowned caddy, Billy Foster.
