Set along the rolling West Pennine Moors, the course at Burnley Golf Club is a fair and pleasant challenge for golfers of all abilities. Known locally as ‘Glen View’, Burnley was constructed in 1905, though originally conceived as a nine-hole course by James Braid. An extension to 18 holes came in 1914, and though minor improvements to the course have been made since, the present-day layout remains largely true its initial design.

Four par-3s and one par-5 contribute to the par of 69, meaning accuracy with the shorter clubs is paramount to prevail over the moorland course. The fifth hole provides a memorable test with the boundary of the course a constant hazard to the left and a water feature to be navigated.

Good-value, freshly prepared meals and a selection of beverages can be enjoyed in the comfortable surrounds of the clubhouse, where visitors are welcome. A relaxing atmosphere is created by panoramic views over the town itself and to the Lakeland Hills beyond. Visitors are encouraged to pre-book with the club professional shop to avoid disappointment.
