Cookridge Hall Golf Club is home to a championship 6788 yard par 72 golf course that was designed and built by key members of the design team that built The Emirates Club in Dubai. Located a mere 15 minutes from Leeds and Bradford city centres the course gently rolls through the country side of north Leeds offering spectacular views of the Yorkshire Dales.
The front nine holes are littered with daunting water hazards and strategic bunkering, the most memorable being the short par 3, 6th. A 150 yard carry is required to avoid being caught out by the huge lake and the resulting fateful splash. The back nine could be classed as more forgiving with two par 5ís and two impressive par 3ís, after negotiating those successfully the golfer is faced with a do or die decision on the 18th tee. A 3 wood or long iron could find the safety of the green in one shot from the tee, but the lake that horseshoes around the green will swallow any errant tee shot. A safe iron shot down the middle of the fairway leaves an awkward pitch across the lake, misjudged and even the conservative golfer will find a watery grave.
Adding to itís overall splendour is the clubhouse dating back to the 1820ís, ideally situated to the side of the 18th green, golfers can sit on the terrace, relax over a drink and sample the extensive home made menu, whilst watching fellow golfers negotiate the demanding approach shot over the water. It provides a perfect setting to compliment a great dayís golf.
And so to conclude, if you are a regular golfer looking for a new challenge, or society group organiser, Cookridge Hall has everything you could ever wish for in a golf facility.
