Dewsbury District Golf Club

Established in 1891 this hillside course is a majestic trip through the West Yorkshire countryside known locally as The Pinnacle.

Designed by Old Tom Morris as a nine-hole the course was later extended in a Ted Ray re-design in 1906 before final alterations were made courtesy of Peter Allis and Dave Thomas in 1972. The course itself tests your length, accuracy, touch as well as your stamina over the part parkland, art moorland layout.

The par of 71 is quite generous and ultimately achievable is you keep your mind focussed and on the job for the duration – taking care not to be distracted by the fantastic scenery. Composure is key as the course throws up some challenging holes and good club selection becomes vital as you attempt to conquer some of the course’s difficult hazards.

The clubhouse was re-built in 2001 and offers a warm reception and some fine catering in modern settings.
