Founded in 1892 and located just five miles east of Manchester city centre, Fairfield is a great course for players of all ability.

A parkland course set around a reservoir, it enjoys a unique location which has earned it the title of “hidden gem” in the area.

It demands accuracy as opposed to length from the tees and you’ll need to be sure to hit the middle of the fairway on a number of holes if you want a shot at the green. A thinking man’s course each hole has its own special flavour, especially the sixth, the par-3 seventh and the incredibly long ninth hole which sternly punishes the golfer who feebly attempts to get there is two.

Water comes into play on several holes here and although it is a short course, the layout is particularly tight to make up for it.

Course designer Andrew Murray was drafted in to make alterations to the course including redeveloping the site and creating a number of new holes to take par from 68 to 71.
