One of the oldest courses in the highlands, the first nine holes at Aberfeldy were laid on the level floodplain of the River Tay in 1895. In 1993, plans were put into action to extend the course by a further nine holes over the river.

In 1995, almost a hundred years to the day the course officially opened its doors, the new extension opened its doors to members and to the public. A bridge was built across the river, making it the only course in the world, which allows players to cross the historic river via its own private bridge. A constant quirkiness runs throughout the entire course, particularly with respect to the final hole.

The 18th is a petite but deadly par-3, which plays slightly uphill to a green guarded by a huge sand trap. More daunting though is the clubhouse and its porch, which sits just a few yards to the right of the green and all eyes are on you as you make your putt. The club boasts great facilities and is a joy to play.
