Flat Parkland course, part woodland with fine examples of pine, larch and silverbirch. Close to the more famous Gleneagles but with a character all of its own. Short it may be but tricky with cunning doglegs and guarded greens meaning that accuracy brings more reward than sheer power. With great views across to Glendevon, it has an attractive wood from the 6th to the 13th.

The signature hole of the course is the fourteenth. Auchterarder has four par-3s on the back nine but the "Punchbowl" if not the Longest is definitely the trickiest. A blind tee shot needs to be hit accurately over the left edge of the cross bunker to a long and narrow agree. Miss the target and you face a difficult downhill chip shot from deep rough. Making this hole a difficult though enjoyable test of skill.

The course has a small practice area and as an easy walking course with a variety of holes makes it popular with visitors, especially playing 36 holes. The clubhouse has eating facilities a lounge dining room and bar which visitors are welcome to use. There are a variety of hotels and B&B's in the town of Auchterarder and surrounding villages.
