The tight fairways and heathland of this nine hole course overlook the famous Helmsdale Salmon River and provides a change to those who are looking for something different from seaside links.

With the surrounding hills lined with thick gorse it is easy to forget you are playing on a short par course, with the key to success being accuracy not length on your way round.

The second hole in particular requires a deft touch with just 87 yards to the pin and out of bounds a further five mistakes are heavily punished.

Panoramic views await at the ninth where golfers can see out to the east and to the gold diggings ok Kildonan and Moray Firth in the West. The short second shot on the hole means there is plenty chance of making a birdie or par.

The compact clubhouse is always welcoming to visitors with a range of drinks and snacks available to everyone.
