A picturesque nine-hole course located in the village of St Margarets Hope, South Ronaldsay Golf Club is undoubtedly one of the most scenically stunning golf courses in Scotland.

This relatively new Orkney course, which opened in 2005, may only be nine holes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging.

In fact, quite the opposite. If you chose to play it as the full 18 holes, you won’t be disappointed as the varying weather patterns of this part of the world are sure to make it a different challenge altogether on the second time round.

This seaside course is excellently maintained and makes for great all year round golf.

Whether your handicap is 5 or 35, this little number is sure to test you to the max with its mix of its six par-4s and three par-3s.

The most challenging par-3 is 209 par-3 fifth-hole, also played as the fourteenth. Here, you will require real accuracy off the tee if you are to avoid the hazards that are in place to catch the slightest of wayward tee-shots.
