Overlooking the Dornoch Firth, Tain arguably
offers one of the best settings imaginable in the highlands for a round of golf.
With sea on one side and the backdrop of the mountains behind, every day brings
a different aspect to this challenging and beautiful course. Designed
in 1890 by Old Tom Morris, the layout of the holes guarantees an interesting round
for beginners or expert. The sheltered location of the course ensures favourable
weather conditions for most of the year - winter greens are seldom used at Tain.
 In
1998 a new clubhouse was built. Full facilities are accessible for visitors including
the purpose built locker room and changing area. There is no better way to end
your visit to Tain than relaxing in the clubhouse after your round. The bar and
dining area are fitted with large windows to give the best view of the course,
especially the 18th green. Full catering facilities are available to visitors.
Tain is well
positioned in the Highlands as a touring base for your visit. Only 35 miles from
Inverness there are numerous other courses close by. The immediate area also boasts
a fine selection of accommodation from guesthouses to top class hotels - there
really is something to suit all budgets. The golf club would be happy to assist
with the booking of your accommodation if required. Your
