Golf in Brittany

France might not have sprung to mind ten years ago when you were planning a golfing holiday abroad, yet those days have disappeared. Now, with the establishment of various regional tourist boards focusing solely on attracting golfers, the French have come up trumps when it comes to fulfilling the needs of travelling golfers from all corners of the golfing globe.

Brittany has always been a popular destination for holidaymakers from the UK, yet it has for some time been welcoming goflers to its wealth of courses. There are 31 golf courses to enjoy in total in Brittany and each and every one is a delight.

From five star resorts to quaint, hidden away retreats, every single angle is covered and, best of all, it doesn't cost the earth. Green fees are ludicrously cheap and the wine, naturally, flows like water off a duck's back. Too good to be true we hear you say? Not at all, as this is one place where travelling golfers can have a ball any time of the year.

One of the best courses in the region is a links-type offering, Val Queven, which features huge bunkers and long, rolling fairways flanked by tall, age-old trees.

Another Brittany highlight is de Quimper-Cornouaille, a challenging Fred Hawtree-designed course overlooking Concarneau Bay and the Glenan Islands.

The Belle-Ile-en-Mer Golf Club offers a great opportunity to play a true links course outside Scotland. This bracing course runs adjacent to the wild coastline and has a number of holes right by the sea.

Brittany is full of varying types of accommodation and there are plenty of things to see and do when you are not on the golf course. Contact the tour operators on this page to get a golfing holiday to suit you.
