Golf in Paris

Being full of romance, architectural masterpieces and world famous art galleries and museums, Paris is one of the world's great cities. Golf, then, doesn't always spring to mind when you think of France's capital city.

But you would be unwise to think of this as incapable of granting golfers a weekend's entertainment on the golf course. In the northern peripheries of the city and further out to Chantilly you will find a fine selection of courses that will bring a smile to the most ardent of golfers.

French golf, however, hasn't always had it so easy. There was a period of forty years or so where the game didn't flourish as expected, but as golf's popularity grew in the 1970s more courses cropped up in and around the capital.

Paris now has an inviting mix of gruelling championship tests and hidden gems not unlike those of the Scottish variety. Chantilly Vineuil and the Jack Nicklaus designed Paris International are the two most popular courses, the latter being just a half hour's drive from the centre of the city.
Chateau Raray is also a superb design as is Apremont, which was laid out amid a forest around ten years ago.

There is so much to do in Paris that keeping track of time is a priority. If you fancy mixing a bit of sight seeing with your golf then make sure you plan ahead. On the other hand, you could just get a tour operator to do all that for you!
