Golf was first played on the sandy peninsula at Sutton nearly 120 years ago, and over that time it’s become one of the most popular nine-hole links courses on the east coast.

With many subtle and hidden dangers the course rewards those who take the time pick their shots wisely, although many of the holes may seem to be within reaching distance for the bigger hitters, they will find that most of the trouble is concentrated at the greens.

Its true the course is of the shorter variety, but what strikes those that play here most is the width of the fairways. They demand pin-point accuracy off the tee and require some serious course management, especially when the rough gets up in the summer months.

As you can imagine from its position the course is susceptible to some string winds from time to time but that’s a small price to pay for the quality of the sea views that it provides. These can also be taken in from the clubhouse, the food is delicious and visitors are guaranteed of a warm welcome.
