Tulfarris is undoubtedly a golfing complex to rival the very best Ireland has produced over the last ten years. With a stunning lakeland setting and a course to match, it has already received great acclaim from the golfing fraternity both at home and abroad. Course architect Paddy Merrigan is rather proud of his creation. "I think the finished article stands alongside the best golf course to be found anywhere. The natural beauty of the setting is awesome," said Merrigan. The Poulaphuca Lake plays an integral part in the layout of the course. The lake contains twelve smaller lakes and the course has been set on three peninsulas for a quite unique setting.

It can be a relatively tough test from the back tees, especially with the water hazards and strategically positioned bunkers to avoid. Any golfer worth his salt will relish tackling such holes as the par three 190-yards, 16th, where a lake and some age-old oak trees mean only the most precisely struck shot will finish on the putting surface. The seventh, where the tee shot is hit out over the lake and then doglegs its way up to a well-trapped and delightfully created green, is another memorable hole. Overall, this is a superb setting for a quite unique round of hole and certainly one for the photographers.
