Address: 54 Ferris Bay Rd, Islandmagee, County Antrim, BT40 3RT

Larne is a nine-hole, 18-tee course which enjoys a magnificent setting on the Penisula of Islandmagee and is bounded on either side by Brownsbay and Ferris Bay. From here it enjoys glorious panoramic views of the Antrim Coast and across the Irish Sea to the west coast of Scotland, on a good day.

A fine challenge for golfers of all standards, it’s a typical links lay-out of considerable length, 6288 yards, which has recently added nine newly constructed teeing areas that make the course’s nine holes a completely new prospect, in terms of length and perspective, on the second circuit.

A good example of this is the first, which played first time round is a intimidating opener as a par 5 of around 520 yards, whereas as the tenth it is now a long par four of around 460 yards and a much tougher test for making par.

The 7th is the signature hole here, a deceptive, short par-3 which plays from an elevated tee over water to the green which is protected on two sides by the sea.
