Newtownstewart Golf Course

Newtownstewart Golf Club, founded in 1914, lies at the foot of Bessy Bell mountain, in the rolling parkland of Baronscourt, ancestral estate of the Duke of Abercorn. Although only about an hour and a half from Belfast, this is a different world. Mature beech trees and wildlife such as pheasants, red squirrels and buzzards, together with views of the surrounding Sperrins make just being on the course a pleasure. The Club has held Pro Am tournaments, regularly hosts GUI qualifying events, and is a demanding test off the back boxes. However, it is also a popular society venue, welcoming groups and individual visitors alike, the emphasis being on friendliness rather than formality.

The golf shop has a wide range of branded merchandise and is open seven days per week. There are extensive practice facilities and trolley, club and motorised buggy hire also available throughout the week. The clubhouse offers the usual range of services - bar, television, snooker and catering which by arrangement can vary from early breakfasts to a lunchtime sandwich or a formal evening meal.

For a change of activity, or for the non-golfers in the party, the immediate vicinity offers river and lake game angling, shooting clays and game, hill walking, tennis and water-skiing. The Ulster American Folk Park and Ulster History Park are ten minutes away, with Fermanagh's lakeland and the beaches of Donegal within an hour's drive. A range of accommodation locally varies from the spoil yourself hotel life through bed and breakfast facilities to on-course self-catering chalets.
