Address: Corboley, Bearna, Co. Galway,

The commanding views are most definitely the talking point of this course, as well as the Irish tradition in which it is steeped. Set amidst the celebrated beauty of the West of Ireland landscape on the fringe of Connemara, Bearna enjoys views of Galway Bay, the Burren, the Aran Islands and the tugged hinterlands.

The course itself is hailed as one of the countries finest thanks to the inspired creativity of its designer, R. J. Browne. Browne’s sitting of tees and sand based greens throughout the 1,000 hectares of distinctive countryside have resulted in generously proportioned fairways, though water does come into play at no less than 13 of the course’s holes.

The closing four holes provide a spectacle of a finish to your round but the most mysterious hole comes at the turn The par-4 ninth was named, “The Fairy Hills”, as the natives of Corboley have always testified that fairies were seen there. A wayward drive there has been said to be an invitation from the little people to play among their hills.
