At 1,859 yards, Lumphanan is a classic hillside nine-hole course. Its par three and par four holes are a test of accuracy where you must rise to the challenge of narrow fairways, bunkers and complex greens.

During the recent club redevelopment, designers took full advantage of the outstanding natural characteristics afforded to create memorable holes, many of which offer spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The shot from the elevated par three 9th requires precision and a choice to play over the ancient beech trees or through a gap between them. This is one of numerous holes that typically combine natural character and challenge for which Lumphanan's course is renowned.

Depending of the time of year you may see many types of wildlife on the course, including deer, curlew, oyster catchers, partridge and buzzard, and if the day is clear you will have a breathtaking view of Lochnagar and the Cairngorm Mountains. With a fantastic local history, not forgetting scenic views from every hole, this is Scottish village golf at its very best.
