An open parkland course, Oldmeldrum Golf Club’s 18-hole course enjoys panoramic views over a large swathe of the scenic Grampians in the west and the Aberdeenshire coast to the east.

Originally conceived as a nine-hole course, the course was extended to its present 18 holes between 1987 and 1989. At just under 6,000 yards, Oldmeldrum’s generous fairways are forgiving to the odd wayward tee shot, though tight, subtly undulating greens require precise approach play, or failing that, an imaginative short game. Visitors might want to look out for the large stone named ‘The Groaner’ located on the fourteenth fairway.

While modern in style, the clubhouse is traditional in the warmth of hospitality it provides. Opened in 1994, open views of the first and last holes can be enjoyed from the large windows of the upstairs lounge and bar area. A post-round drink or meal can be accompanied with envy of or sympathy for players on the eighteenth green. Oldmeldrum has rightly garnered a reputation of being an inviting club, and visitors can always be assured of a genuinely warm welcome.
