Portlethan Golf Course was opened in 1990 and was designed by Donald Steel. The course is a good example of a parkland course with many excellent natural features. The par 5 485 yard 4th hole is a whole that requires caution to take the place of valor. Should you lay up short of the burn or attempt the carry to set up a birdie chance.

The fifteenth hole is undoubtedly the signature hole of the course. The tee shot has to be placed accurately to cope with the right to left dog leg and then the approach shot, from a downhill lie, has to carry the findhorn burn which protects the green. Many new trees have been planted recently along with restoration of traditional walls and many similar course improvements, including a pond at the fifth.

Other facilities include an extensive practice area and hopefully a 15 bay driving range will be in evidence soon. Portlethan is a club that is attempting to stay at the fore front of top quality facilities for member and visitors.
