Whilst it may be newer and shorter than the more challenging Dalmahoy East, the West course is certainly no pushover. With its tight fairways and thick rough this is a course that demands respect from its golfers.
Accurate tee shots are essential as players attempt to negotiate the courses fairways with its small greens in particular requiring pin point accuracy from the shorter irons in the bag.
The par 3 16th is perhaps the best example with its miniscule yardage; the hole is a test of control, as even the slightest over hit will leave golfers facing a nightmarish return to the green.
Those who brave the winds and narrow holes however will be rewarded with a thoroughly challenging round of golf.
