Established in 1928 and located in the lower parkland slopes of the Minto Hill, Minto golf course is perfect for anyone looking for a test of their golfing abilities. Played over amble and gentle fairways the course plays through a tree lined front nine, before opening up to the wider plains of the back nine.

With new improvements to the course and the recent addition of several new bunkers this new level of difficulty has been reflected in the standard scratch score being raised to 68. Despite this new difficulty Minto still represents an enjoyable round that golfers of any standard can enjoy.

The course has a few signature holes, the most memorable of these being the par 4 12th, ‘Everest’. From tree-lined tee to the plateau green, Everest is the feature hole. Accuracy is key as a straight drive will result in the perfect set up for a difficult chip on to the small-elevated green. The card breaker n the scorecard comes late on in the round and demands an accurate tee shot for a neat approach to the subtle greens. As with many card breakers it comes right at the end, providing a constant source of frustration and delight for members and visitors alike.

With the fantastic views many holes on the course compete for most scenic however the best is surely the 11th hole, ‘Dunion’. At the top, golfers will get to glimpse the truly awesome views of the Dunion Hill as well as the sweeping Border hills as the fairway breaks towards the green.

Directions
From the north or south on the A68, 3 miles north of Jedburgh, take the A698 to Denholm. Turn right onto B6405 just before village green. After crossing the River Teviot, take the second road on the right and follow the signs for the golf course.
