Niddry Castle Golf Club

This attractive parkland course was designed by Derek Smith in 1982 and it has matured to provide an interesting and enjoyable golfing challenge. The course surrounds the 15th Century Niddry Castle and this setting allied to the profusion of water and mature trees on the course present all players with a variety of decisions about their shot selection if they are to play to their handicap. In particular driving accuracy is at a premium.

The course measures just short of 5500 yards with a par of 70 and a standard scratch of 67. The recently extended par 5 is a formidable hole and the raised tee provides panoramic views of Edinburgh and the Pentland Hills. The course is currently being extended to 18 holes with a provisional opening date of May 2003 and work is at an advanced stage for what will prove to be an exciting new development.

The development does not however affect the current course though visitors can gain a view of the new nine holes from the 6th, 8th and 9th tees. A new synthetic practise putting green has been laid and there is a net to assist you in your warm up. Visitors and parties are very welcome and the clubhouse offers a full range of drinks, snacks and meals as well as changing facilities.
