Reputedly 200 years old, this is a naturally challenging and fun traditional links course. The 10th green has a reputation for having the best views in golf , which is unsurprising given the course is located on the island north of Islay and south of Mull in the Inner Hebrides.

The island itself has an area of just over 16 square miles but they have somehow managed to fit a golf course, albeit relatively small, on Colonsay. It might be short, measuring just over 5,000 yards from the first tee to the 18th green, it is a thoroughly enjoyable test of golf.

The course is on the natural Machair and itself is completely natural and designed by the supreme architect of golf, Mother Nature. Some modifications have been made throughout the years, though, most notably in 2006 when the aerodrome was upgraded.

Although play is restricted to members only, a full membership is available to all and costs just £20 per year and those who’ve already joined boast it the best £20 they’ve ever spent.
