Newton Stewart Golf Club was formed in 1896 with an extension to 18 holes in 1993 giving now an excellent test of golf for all standard of players. Although here are 5 par 3s and only 2 par 5s the short holes all set good tests due to different elevations and tree positions. The first two holes are on the old course with numbers 3 to 12 on the extension. The views are spectacular whether they be over the town and the Cree Estuary, with the Isle of Man even visible on a clear day, or up behind to Cairnsmore and the Galloway Hills. Buzzards and deer are a common sight around the pond.

The course rises to its highest point at the 10th hole a lovely par 3 over the burn and beside the pond and then all downhill until you rejoing the old course at the 13th hole with five good par 4s and the par 3 17th to the Clubhouse. The reasonable climb to the 10th tee is made easier due to the fact that the holes wind their way up and in any case buggies are available for hire should golfers prefer that option.

The Clubhouse is open all the year round with our 36 hole package very competitive indeed especially as the course is in excellent order with very good drainage and so playable a very large majority of the year. As the Club has a comparatively small membership due to the size of Newton Stewart even at the height of the season, including weekends, visitors can enjoy their golf in a more relaxed manner that at many other overcrowded clubs. Visitors are always made most welcome so come and give us a try and I am sure you will not regret doing so.
