Stranraer Golf Club

Set on the north Rhinns peninsula, overlooking Loch Ryan, Stranraer Golf Club has wonderful views to Ailsa Craig, Arran and beyond. Designed by James Braid this parkland course offers all golfers an unfogettable game. It is open all year round and is frost free on all but a few days.

There are several notable holes. At the 3rd a winding burn is crossed three times to a green set between a large bunker and a steep bank sloping down to the burn. There is a demanding tee shot at the 11th with trees and out of bounds to the left then a steep rise to a very fast green. It is diffucult to find a harder par 3 than the 15th. Accuracy is paramount with ground sloping away either side of the green.

The modern Clubhouse offers full bar and catering facilities. Ideal for the family or Society outing, friendly hospitality is assured. Full facilities are available for people with mobility difficulties, including a stair lift to the lounge. From the first floor lounge a view of much of the course can be enjoyed with a backdrop of Loch Ryan and the regular transience of ferries plying their way to Ireland. Although there is no Pro shop a selection of goods are obtainable. Clubs, trolleys and carts are available for hire.
