This is the perfect course for the golfer that likes to think his way through a round. When playing here you must decide when to go for broke and when to be a bit more reserved because one thing’s for sure - this course will punish those that attempt to go ‘gung ho’ for the full 18 holes.

Born from humble beginnings in 1893 as a nine-holer, over the years Thornhill has developed into a mature mixture of heathland and parkland.

As a result of this progression the venue has become very popular, to such an extent that in 1996 it was forced to built a new clubhouse to accommodate the increasing number of visitors frequenting the course.

From the course you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views which can match any in the country and have led to Thronhill being described as the “hidden Jewell” in the crown of Scotland . With a tremendous mixture of holes it’s hard to pick a favourite but certainly watch out for some of the par-3s especially the delightfully named “wee Cample”.
