In 1905 a group of local business started the club with an 18-hole course overlooking the spa town of Llandrindod Wells to service the needs of the thousands of visitors that flocked to the town.

Originally designed by six-time British Open Champion, Harry Vardon, it was redesigned some years later by James Braid to produce a fantastic challenge of golf. Inaugurated in 1907 with a match between Vardon, Braid and the legendary J H Taylor, the club can boasts a fantastic ancestry.

Over a hundred years on Llandrindod Wells has the benefit of the enviable position 1,000ft above sea level and an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life.

Despite being so high up, the course isn’t overly hilly and just two holes require some extra legwork. Host club from 1954 to 1961 of the Welsh Boys’ Championships and from 2000 till the present day it has been home to the Welsh Golfing Union’s Individual Handicap Championship.

Llandrindod Wells was also nominated as Welsh Club of the Year in 2004.
